Delay of game in Dansby deal

Using the most liberal of definitions, the Cardinals and the agent for inside linebacker Karlos Dansby are in contract negotiations. In reality, there hasn't been any negotiating.

The Cardinals made an offer. To Dansby's agent, Kirk Wood, it was like being offered a salad on Thanksgiving. In the nicest possible way, he told the Cardinals to call him back when the main course is ready.

No one expects that to happen before the season ends. Interested fans would be smart to settle in for what figures to be months of talks. READ MORE
 
Dansby gaining value at linebacker

Since being moved from the outside to the middle in the Cardinals’ linebacker group, he’s become a dominant player. And he’s about to be rewarded for it.

Formal talks now are under way between the Cardinals and Dansby for a contract extension, general manager Rod Graves said Wednesday.

Until now, Dansby and his agent, Kirk Wood, had said the talks had been infrequent and informal.

“Relaxed” was the phrase Dansby used after Sunday’s game at Cincinnati to describe the Cardinals’ approach to negotiations. Since then the pace has picked up.

Dansby and fellow linebacker Calvin Pace appear to be the team’s top priorities for contract extensions in the offseason, though, “Nothing is imminent at this point,” Graves said. READ MORE

 
Dansby collects bargaining chips

The Cardinals would like to sign inside linebacker Karlos Dansby to a contract extension before he becomes a free agent next spring, and it was easy to see why Sunday.

Dansby, who missed the previous two games because of a sprained knee, intercepted two passes and forced a fumble in the 31-21 victory against the Detroit Lions.

"He had a game that's definitely going to take him over the top, if you know what I mean," safety Adrian Wilson said with a big smile. "That's up to the organization upstairs, but I'm quite sure he helped himself." READ MORE
