Dansby records 7 tackles in Cardinals 23-13 win at San Fran

Karlos captained a defense on Sunday that created five turnovers setting up the offense for 23 points.

Karlos celebrates win over forty niners.SAN FRANCISCO – Stuck in a halftime tie that shouldn’t have been, the Cardinals adjusted their offense Sunday to throw the ball more often.

Then, after building a lead, they ran the ball, and ran, and ran some more, bleeding the clock.

And when it was over, the Cards owned a 23-13 road win over the 49ers at Candlestick Park. They also owned – albeit much too early to matter much – sole possession of first place in the NFC West.

“This is what happens,” running back Edgerrin James said, “when you play together over and over.”

The win wasn’t from a textbook. Defensively it was close, after the Cardinals (1-0) came up with five turnovers and played havoc with new 49ers quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan. But the 49ers still outgained the Cardinals, 291 yards to 285. READ MORE

Radio Calls in NFL Defenders
NFL Radio HelmetFLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Arizona Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby at first found his helmet's new radio headset anything but easy listening.

The strange new soundtrack now playing inside designated NFL defensive players' heads dazed Dansby when defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast's voice boomed from his helmet early in training camp.

"The first time I tried the radio helmet, it was so loud everybody else could hear the call in our defensive huddle but me," Dansby laughs. "They had it turned up so loud because we play in noisy stadiums.

This summer, "Can you hear me now?" isn't just a cellphone commercial slogan.

It's the recurring question defensive coordinators and players have been asking during their ongoing adjustment to the league's biggest offseason rules change — the coach-to-defense radio communication system.

"I say to Karlos after signaling in each play, 'Raise your hand if you can hear me,' " Pendergast says. READ MORE
